Marsh Owl
Late one afternoon while driving through the plains of Ndutu in the Ngorongoro Conservation Area we happened upon this Marsh Owl. It had been sitting on the ground completely concealed by brush and we would have missed it if it hadn’t flown. We stopped immediately and watched it hunt for several minutes. After spending all day watching big cats and canids it was a fun surprise to find an accommodating owl. Although primarily an insect eater, this raptor will also prey on small rodents or birds.
