Hidden Brick Pond

Hidden Brick Pond – The Secret Lives of its Wild Residents

It is first light of the morning and I’ve just settled into my blind. The peaceful silence is broken only occasionally but the distant caw of crows muffled by a dense fog. From the woods I hear rustling and a loud SNAP!, followed by a large SPLASH! My pulse quickens as I pan my lens over to spot the source of the disruption…

Want to hear the rest? Stop by Waterman Conservation Education Center on Saturday at 11am to here more and see the resulting image. I will be relating stories about the fauna and a wee bit of flora and showing many images never seen on social media. Haven’t had time to reserve a spot? That’s okay, we’ll make room! Hope to you Saturday!

Waterman Center is located at 403 Hilton Road, Apalachin, NY

During the 19 months from autumn of 2014 through early spring of 2016 I made many trips to trudge through the untouched landscapes surrounding Brick Pond in Owego, NY.  In that time I wandered down every path.  And I set up makeshift blinds in a variety of spots with the goal of photographing Wood Ducks throughout their life cycle.  During that time I accomplished that and much more.  I witnessed many behaviors I had read about in books along with encountering many surprises.  I hope to see you on Saturday!
